The original (available here) was created using ink and pigments on rice paper, then mounted on silk. The painting was inspired by the Dutch golden age still life flower painting from the period of 16th and 17th century. It symbolizes the circle of life - in the painting, there are withering flowers, flowers in bloom, as well as new buds coming out.
