A Peony Bouquet In The Moonlight

This painting is an experiment of different media on both silk and canvas. The white flower was created with Chinese ink and pigments on silk before attached to the dark background on canvas. The rest was developed in oil to form a depth.

Size: 60cm (H) x 50cm (W) x 1cm (D)

The peonies in this fine art painting are basking in the glow of the moonlight giving it a subdued and melancholy affect as one can feel it is almost reaching for the last rays of light before the darkness of the late evening. It was one of a series of 3 in this experiment.

This painting is an experiment of different media on both silk and canvas. The red and pink flowers were first created with Chinese ink and pigments on silk, before mounted onto the canvas, finished off with oil to form a 3D effect.

Size: 60cm (H) x 50cm (W) x 1cm (D)

I can think of no better word than splendour to describe this painting. One of my favourite past times is to visit the wonderful properties of the National Trust. I was in a well known country house and seen this splendid bouquet of flowers in their oriental room! It was one of those moments of sheer delight that my ancestry and my new home country fused in my imagination.

This painting is an experiment of different media on both silk and canvas. The waterlily was created with Chinese ink and pigments on silk to emphasise its purity. The rest was developed with a mix of oil and ink, to form a heavy texture, creating a contrast with the waterlily.

“Rising above the Silt” is a Chinese phrase depicting water lily grows out of muddy water, but has kept its purity. This implies the virtuous of integrity.

This painting has won the major prize of The Yellow Book Project (nationwide) to help support mental wellbeing.

The sun shining through the french window on an empty armchair. Are the peony flowers the wallpaper behind the armchair, or a wonderland outside the window? Is the armchair waiting for you quietly, or you just left leaving it in its wonderland?

The painting was created with Chinese ink and pigments, wax and oil on wood panel over 20 hours

The chrysanthemums were painted with traditional Chinese method, and sealed with wax, on top of which the vase, the table and the clothes were painted in oil. This method helps to bring out the three-dimensional effect.

The vase is empty longing for flowers; but the flowers on the wall live in a different world. They seem so close, but yet so far apart.

The painting was created with Chinese ink and pigments, wax and oil on wood panel over 20 hours

The peony flowers and the birds of heaven were created in the traditional Chinese method, and sealed with wax, on top of which the piano was painted with oil. This brings out the three-dimensional effect.

This painting quietly celebrates the beauty of melancholy.
